My equipment...

...is not the very best, but it's enough for my elementary needs:
  • Roland D20 as input-device (in former times also as sound-device)
  • Roland Sound-Canvas SC-7 and
  • Soundblaster AWE32 with 2MB RAM
  • Soundblaster Live! as sound devices
  • Digital Orchestrator as sequenzer program.

The beginning

A long time ago I used the good old Commodore C64 for my first steps in creating music. Although I've been teached in torturing pianos for a couple of years, I prefered the computer for composing (caused by my bad virtuosity). Since the sound of the SID is very poor (although I fabricated a stereo-SID with 6 voices following the instructions of the 64'er-magazine) I bought a few years later a 'real' synthesizer - my D20. For a couple of years I used it as input device, sound device and sequencer in one, until I got a new computer with MIDI-interface and a sequencer program (Sequencer Plus Gold). Since then I use the computer for sequencing... Later I bought the AWE32, which provided wonderful sample-abilities, and stopped using the keyboard as sound device, too. A couple of month later I added the SC-7 to my equipment, which replaced the ROM-Samples of the AWE32...

My creations

Mostly I create only short fragments of melodies, like this sample in WAV-format (Mono, 11kHz, 16Bit, nevertheless 1.4MB! Attention: Readers who are using Unix should ensure, that this file will not be sent directly to /dev/audio - otherwise the result will be a real ear-pain!). But from time to time I finish some larger songs, for example the following MIDI-files © copyrights for all files presented on this page by Tim Wittrock 1997. The MIDI-Songs sounds are best played with the SC-7 (on which they have been created), of course. You can find some of my songs in mp3 format at MP3.com.
